Aga Khan Scholarship
The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from developing countries. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant and 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year.
2014-2015 AKF scholarship to study in UK is now open and deadline for submission of this scholarship application is 31st March’14.
Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at universities in the UK.

Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Plan
The Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Plan is aimed at students of Commonwealth countries who can make a significant contribution to their home country after the completion of a higher education programme in the UK. This is a source of funding made available to all Commonwealth countries by the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission.
The preliminary selection of candidates for scholarships is carried out in India by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Department of Education, and Government of India. The preliminary selection is done through a process of short listing of applications, followed by personal interviews in New Delhi.
The direct scholarship applications are now closed for 2014-15 intake. You could apply for Common Wealth Scholarships through the UK University you have been made an offer of place.
Oxford and Cambridge Society of India Scholarship
The Oxford and Cambridge Society of India offers scholarships for admission to the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge respectively.
The scholarships are closed now.
The Gates Cambridge Scholarships
Gates Cambridge Scholarships are highly competitive full-cost scholarships. They are awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.
The deadline to apply in this scholarship was 3rd December’13. It is closed now for 2014-2015 intake.
The Rhodes Scholarships India
Applications are invited from outstanding graduates holding at least a first class honours degree in Pure or Applied Sciences, Humanities, Law or Medicine of Indian Universities for five scholarships, for a course of study leading to a degree of the University of Oxford (UK).
Felix Scholarship Trust offers up to 6 scholarships each for Indian graduates at University of Oxford, University of Reading & School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) every year.
Applications are open for 2014-2015 intake.
The last dates to apply to this scholarship are appropriate Jan’14 for Oxford, 31st Jan for Reading, and 31st Jan’14 for SOAS.
Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships
Gain an internationally recognised qualification and take your career to new heights. Scotland has 50 prestigious scholarship awards worth GBP 2000 each for postgraduate students from India.
Inlaks Scholarships provide the opportunity to young people with exceptional talent in any field to broaden their vision abroad and improve their skills to operate in society. The scholarships are of two types: university courses and specific programs. Scholarships are granted at top American, European and UK institutions, for funding requirements including tuition fees.
Preference will be given to candidates who have not yet studied abroad. InLaks Scholarships applications are accepted from 10th January 2014 to 15th April 2014.
Narotam Sekhsaria Scholarship Programme
This scholarship is known as interest free Loan Scholarship and this scholarship is given for postgraduate studies in the field of Pure Sciences, Applied Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, Law, Architecture and Management.. A candidate should be the citizen of India and not be more than 30 years of age as on 31st Jan’14.
The Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards (DHPA)
Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Awards (DHPA) is a UK scheme to bring outstanding students from India, China, Hong Kong, South Africa, Brazil, Russia and the developing world to come and study for PhDs in top rated UK research facilities.
K. C. Mahindra Scholarships for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad
The K.C. Mahindra Scholarship for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad awards an interest-free loan of up to Rs. 200,000 to deserving graduates who are interested in pursuing advanced studies overseas. Candidates must possess a First Class Degree and be admitted to a foreign university. The selection is announced in leading newspapers across India every January.
TOEFL® Scholarship Program in India
The TOEFL® Scholarship Program in India is open to any student currently living in India who will start an undergraduate or graduate degree in 2014 at a college or university.
The deadline for applications is April 30, 2014.
Goa Education Trust Scholarships (GET)
GET aims to provide Goan students with a platform to undertake postgraduate study in the UK in any field of academic study. Since the introduction of the scholarship in 2010, recipients of the award have successfully completed their studies in a range of subjects including Journalism, Education, Ancient History and Law.
The scholarship covers full/ part tuition fees for the courses.
Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships
Dr Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, is a graduate and Honorary Fellow of St John’s College, University of Cambridge. In honour of Dr Singh St John’s College has launched the Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships. These awards will enable academically outstanding Indian students to come to St. John’s College, University of Cambridge to study for doctoral degrees in subjects like Science & Technology, Economics and Social Sciences.
Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships (CWIT)
CWIT enables Indians in the early to mid stages of their careers to spend time in the UK, helping them to achieve artistic, academic and professional ambitions and to broaden their international contacts.
Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship
The Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Programme at London Metropolitan University has been set up to honour the major political and spiritual leader of India, who is officially honoured as the Father of the Nation.
The scholarship supports one student from India and covers the tuition fees for a Master's programme at LondonMet.
The scholarship will be awarded to the most outstanding postgraduate student on the basis of excellent academic performance in India.
The recipient must also demonstrate the potential for leadership and social change as exemplified by Gandhi.
Important entry criteria
- have an unconditional offer to study at London Met on one of London Met's Master's courses.
- have 80% or above in Class X.
- have 80% or above in Class XII.
- have a First Class Honours Bachelor's degree from a good Indian university.
- have an overall IELTS score of 7.5 with a minimum of 7.0 in each component or SELT equivalent.
- be a national of India.

The GREAT - LondonMet Scholarships
The GREAT - LondonMet Scholarships – India 2015 is designed to help outstanding applicants from India to study a one year Master’s degree at London Metropolitan University. Each scholarship covers up to £4,950 in tuition fees, the remaining tuition fees as well as maintenance costs need to be funded by the student.
- Have an unconditional/conditional offer to study a taught, one year Master’s course at London Met in one of the following faculties:
Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design
Faculty of Business and Law
Faculty of Life Sciences and Computing
- Have a Bachelor’s degree from a good Indian University, equivalent to a British Bachelor’s 2:1
- Have an overall IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component or SELT equivalent
- Should be a national of India with international (i.e. non-UK/EU) fee status
- Should not have studied in the UK before
