To study in another country could be a difficult decision to make. It sometimes results in hard living for a student when being pushed to new environment and culture, different language and being far away from family and friends. Above all what plays a vital role in decision making for studying abroad is the high cost. Scholarships, bursaries, loans and other financial grants could help the international student to fulfil his dreams. Owing to minimal knowledge about scholarships students face big challenges in selecting and applying for it. Most of the students are unaware of whether to apply for financial aids in their home country or in the country they are planning to study.

If you are planning to apply for a scholarship to aid your studies abroad, then it is preferable to initiate your application process at least a year in advance. There are majorly three types of scholarships available to study in the United Kingdom.

1) Government scholarships in the UK

2) India based scholarship

3) UK University scholarships

Enrolments for most of the Government scholarships in UK are open from October – December. These scholarships are merit based. Students can also apply for scholarship or international bursary at the UK University. After that the chance of arranging a scholarship or any other financial assistance on arrival in the UK becomes minimal. Most scholarships in the UK are available for postgraduate programmes and for research although there are few options available for undergraduate study.
