Established by Royal Charter in 1964 in the city of Lancaster, England, the university is one of only 6 collegiate universities in the UK and a member of the N8 Group of research universities. The campus buildings are located on a hilltop and are arranged around a central walkway known as the Spine, which is connected to a central plaza, named Alexandra Square. The lower slopes of hilltop are landscaped parkland which includes "Lake Carter" duck pond and the university playing fields.
The colleges are weakly autonomous and programme routes are available in Business and Management, Engineering, Computing, Law, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Social Sciences. It is one of only nine universities to be ranked in the top 10 across all national league tables of UK universities. The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide (2018) awarded Lancaster as the ‘University of the Year’.

I got to know about UEA by looking at university rankings tables. From this, I started contacting UEA students over Instagram and Facebook and I was happy to receive positive reviews. I was nervous prior to starting my studies, but university staff helped me find accommodation. I found that there was support on campus such as free language classes and there were a lot of events happening for students to become familiar with the university.
