Times Higher Education has revealed the best universities in the UK for student experience.
Based on the responses of more than 15,000 undergraduates rating their university across 21 categories on a seven-point rating from “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree”, Harper Adams University was crowned the best university in the UK for student experience.
Top Five Universities in the UK for Students' Experience
Harper Adams is a specialist provider of higher education for the agricultural and rural sector, and in only its second year of eligibility in the table, it has finished top of the pile – after finishing second in 2016.
As well as finishing top overall, Harper Adams was ranked number one in the “good community atmosphere”; “well-structured courses” and “personal requirements catered for” measures.
Having topped the student experience rankings seven times in the past, including last year, Loughborough University had to settle for the runner-up position in 2017.
Loughborough University brings together an award-winning students’ union, numerous societies and a community spirit that harnesses a great student experience.
Sheffield was voted the number one university in the Russell Group for student experience. The Russell Group, featuring universities such as Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial College London, is a collective of 24 research intensive universities.
Joining Sheffield means joining a university that’s friendly and upbeat. They were ranked joint second for community atmosphere and joint third for social life.
After finishing sixth last year, Leeds has moved into the top five for 2017. Students voted the University third in the UK for its facilities, including quality, convenience, library/opening hours, shop and bar amenities, and sports facilities.
In addition, Leeds will continue to invest £520m to further develop the campus to support world-leading research and teaching.
Surrey has made huge moves over the last year, jumping from 26th in 2016 to the top five in 2017. The University placed top for security, an impressive sixth for our excellent industry connections and student welfare and seventh for both university facilities and recommending the University to a friend.
