The University of Strathclyde was formally awarded university status in 1964 and currently has almost 23,000 students enrolled from 100 countries on a single campus in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland.

The University was recently announced as the 2019 Times Higher Education 'University of the Year' and are they only university to be awarded the UK-wide award for a second time, having previously won in 2012. Strathclyde is also the current Scottish University of the Year.

Strathclyde is known for its close links with industry, and the Strathclyde Business School is one of only 55 in the world that is ‘triple accredited’ by all three major bodies. Many courses, such as product design and innovation or international business with modern languages, have been specifically designed with industry experts. The engineering faculty is the biggest in Scotland and has the largest electrical power engineering and energy research facility in Europe.

Strathclyde students are set to enjoy a new £60 million Learning & Teaching building due for completion in 2020 which will be located in the centre of the campus. Designed with students and staff in mind, the hub will include leading-edge teaching facilities as well as providing a new home for student support services and the Students’ Union.

Services for International Students

The International Student Club meets weekly during the academic year and provide an informal forum for students to meet and get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Social events are planned, including day and weekend tours, international food evening events, trips to the theatre and music concerts. Weekly international meetings also provide a great opportunity for students to meet and make valuable contacts and friends.

Pre-sessional and in-sessional English courses are available and students are also entitled to up to four hours per week of free English language tuition and support. Staff are also available to help with other issues such as visas, employment and accommodation.
