Ravensbourne people are as diverse as the city we occupy and the industries we serve. Students and colleagues. Research and business partners. We are united by a desire to innovate and change the world through creativity. Ravensbourne was created in 1959 by the amalgamation of Bromley School of Art (opened in 1878) and the Department of Furniture Design of Beckenham School of Art. 2,400 students in total attend the University, and the main Ravensbourne campus is next to The O2, an entertainment district at Greenwich Peninsula.
Ravensbourne have a strong track record in getting good jobs for our graduates, because we equip them with the practical skills they need to excel in the workplace. Our current graduate employability rate is an impressive 94.7%, so 19 out of 20 students are in employment or further study within 6 months of graduating. We have close working relationships with local and national industries, making sure that as a Ravensbourne learner you'll have access to a wealth of work placement opportunities.
Our staff aren't just highly regarded academics - many of them also bring with them years of experience with industry greats, from Vogue to Walt Disney Studios, the BBC and more. So you'll be learning from the experts. In the 50 years since we were established, we've built a name for ourselves by producing some of Britain's finest - and most diverse - creative talent. We're currently in the top 20 in the EU and in the top 10 in the UK for Art & Design *QS World University Rankings.
Many courses at Ravensbourne also provide international trips. These have included 24 Fashion Buying and Brand Management students who went to Sri Lanka to see large scale manufacture at a carbon neutral sustainable manufacturing plant and 25 students who were invited to work as facilitators at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) which ran in Berlin, Germany.
As a cutting-edge creative institution, Ravensbourne couldn't be better placed. We're right next door to the world famous O2 music arena, and as a learner here you'll be eligible for discounts to a number of its restaurants, bars and shops. We're on the Greenwich digital peninsula, London's newest digital community, and close to Tech City, the capital's fast-growing media and technology hub.
Tube stations are within five minutes walk of the University, while Stratford International station is also close by.
Music legend David Bowie, fashion designer Stella McCartney, 2012 Olympic torch designer Jay Osgerby and The King's Speech and Oscar winning producers Simon Egan and Gareth Unwin were all trained here. And thousands more Ravensbourne alumni are making waves across their professions, with many picking up industry awards.
Ophelia Liu, artist, model and winner of Glow Up BBC Netflix S2, was a BA (Hons) Fashion Apparel Design graduate in 2017: "I had an amazing time studying Fashion Apparel Design at Ravensbourne University London. I was taught by innovative professionals who gave me direct industry experience.
"Not only did I have the opportunity to work on London Fashion Week two years in a row, but I was delighted to win the VC corporation's future of denim competition in collaboration with Ravensbourne. It's thanks to my time at Ravensbourne that I have had the confidence and creativity to pursue a career as a fashion designer and make-up artist."
Former Ravensbourne students have also won Product Design Awards and created ingenious edible packaging.
I sincerely thank SI-UK for getting me accepted to UCL. The MSc in Urban Development and Planning is extremely competitive, but the right guidance provided by SI-UK made my dream of studying at University College London a reality. The services were exceptional from beginning to end.
