Five Master's Scholarships of £4,000 each, funded through the Santander Universities agreement with the University, are available annually to full-time taught postgraduate students at Chester. To be eligible for a Scholarship, students must:

  • have accepted an offer of admission to a one year, full time taught postgraduate programme in any subject;
  • on admission to the University of Chester, be a graduate of one of the eligible institutions in the Santander Universities scheme (see below).

Application procedure and selection criteria

To apply, students must complete a Masters Scholarship application form. Applications should be submitted to the Research and Knowledge Transfer Officeby 12 noon on 26 June 2020.

The selection of the Scholars will be made by a panel chaired by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research & Knowledge Transfer) and details of selected Scholars will be forwarded to Santander Universities for information. Applications will be judged on two criteria:

  • academic quality of the applicant;
  • potential for the applicant to benefit from the Scholarship, particularly in relation to widening participation.

All those unsuccessful applications submitted by eligible applicants meeting the quality criteria thresholds will be held on a waiting list and if any Scholarships remain vacant after September 2020 these applications will be considered at any time until 8 December 2020.

Scholarships may not be combined with the Golden Ticket discount for University of Chester graduates.

The University reserves the right to reconsider the award of a Scholarship if the financial situation of a Scholar changes following the award.

If a Scholar holds a conditional offer, the Scholarship will not be confirmed until all conditions are met.
