Manchester Metropolitan University named most sustainable university in the UK
Manchester Metropolitan University has been named the most sustainable university in the UK by the People and Planet University League 2021.
The league table assessed 154 institutions based on 13 categories including environmental policy and strategy, carbon reduction and sustainability staff, all of which Manchester Metropolitan scored 100%.
The University topped the table with a total score of 86.3%, six percentage points higher than King's College London in 2nd place. The top five was rounded off by Nottingham Trent University, De Montfort University and Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Professor Malcolm Press, Vice-Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University, said: “We are absolutely delighted that our important work on sustainability has been recognised in this way. Sustainability forms an integral part of everything that we do, from our teaching and research, to the way that we build and use our campus.”
