The University of Essex has been ranked 22^nd in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and is one of five universities shortlisted for the Guide’s prestigious title University of the Year.

The University of Essex is a public research university in Colchester, England spread over three campuses in Colchester, SouthEnd and Loughton.

Essex was recently rated Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework 2017 and is in the top 20 for research excellence in the last Research Excellence Framework in 2014.
