Birmingham City University to launch new Fashion and Creative Art Institute in China

4 January 2016

Birmingham City University is to join forces with Wuhan Textile University in China and open the Birmingham Institute of Fashion and Creative Art.

Birmingham expect more than 3,500 students over the next seven years to enrol at the campus, and it is one of just 63 universities in the world to be given the opportunity to jointly run a higher education institute in China. The institute in Wuhan, which is already recognised for its creative arts and has been crowned China's top fashion university for the last 15 years, will offer degree subjects including art, design and media.

Prof Bashir Makhoul, pro-vice chancellor at BCU, said: "Students who choose the Birmingham Institute of Fashion and Creative Art will have the chance to gain an internationally recognised UK bachelor degree that ranks alongside the very best in the world. They will also benefit from a unique alliance of two universities with a shared vision that offers innovative and high quality teaching.”
