Webinar: The Art of Computational Biology with the University of Manchester
Join the University of Manchester’s Professor Sam Griffiths-Jones, who will discuss computational biology at the university in this special webinar for international students.
You can also learn more about the range of Biological Sciences courses at the university and ask any questions you might have. The University of Manchester, ranked 27th in the world, is one of the UK’s leading universities in the field of Biology, Medicine and Health.
Biology has been transformed in the 21st century by our ability to generate and analyse enormous quantities of biological data. For example, we have complete genome sequences for many thousands of different organisms. We can use new technologies to see how genes in those genomes are turned on and off, for example during development, in different tissues, or in disease. And we can examine how proteins produced by these genes interact with each other to orchestrate a vast range of biological functions. Understanding these phenomena requires computers and advanced data analysis skills.
