The University of the West of England (UWE) is the largest provider of higher education in the southwest of the country. It exists on four campuses in and around the city of Bristol, about 190 km west of London. It was founded in 1970 as Bristol Polytechnic, achieving university status in 1992. It currently has around 30,000 students enrolled from over 140 different countries.
UWE's focus on partnerships and links with major employers and a unique Graduate Development Programme offers opportunities for students to get real world experience with major companies and organisations like CERN, the BBC and Hewlett-Packard.
