The University of Glasgow is a top Russell Group university that has created six Nobel Laureates. It is the fourth oldest university in the English-speaking world and ranks in the world's top 100.
The University performed impressively in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. The percentage of world-leading research doubled to 31% since the last assessment in 2008, and Glasgow was ranked 12th overall in the UK and 2nd in Scotland. This improvement was achieved across all four colleges of the University. The following subjects are ranked in the top ten in the UK:

It is ranked 12th in the Times University Guide 2022, 11th in the Guardian University Guide 2022, and 73rd in QS World University Rankings 2022.
