Newcastle University was granted university status in 1963 and currently has just over 20,000 students enrolled, of which 4,000 are international. The University is in the north-east of England and is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of research-intensive universities.
As a result of its origins as the School of Medicine and Surgery, one of Newcastle’s main strengths remains medicine.Cancer research facilities are some of the best in the country and Newcastle is in the top five in the UK for hospital and laboratory-based subjects.
