Newcastle University

Newcastle University was granted university status in 1963 and currently has just over 20,000 students enrolled, of which 4,000 are international. The University is in the north-east of England and is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of research-intensive universities.

Newcastle University is considered one of the top 150 universities in the world by QS and overall satisfaction at the University is at 91%, one of the highest scores in the country. A survey from Graduate Destinations also showed 94% of Newcastle University leavers were in employment or further study six months after graduating.

As a result of its origins as the School of Medicine and Surgery, one of Newcastle’s main strengths remains medicine. It currently works in partnership with the University of Durham and was selected as a national centre to demonstrate good practices in medical tuition. Cancer research facilities are some of the best in the country and Newcastle is in the top five in the UK for hospital and laboratory-based subjects.
