Goldsmiths, University of London was founded in 1891, and has been part of the University of London since 1904. We’ve a rich academic history, but we’re also known for our creative approach. From the moment you enrol you’ll be part of a powerful legacy of learning.The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths set up its Technical and Recreative Institute in 1891 to provide educational opportunities for the people of New Cross. The University of London acquired the new Institute and re-established it as Goldsmiths College in 1904.
Seven former students have won the prestigious Turner Prize and the university was the starting point of the YBA group of artists in the 1990s. Other alumni can be found in all aspects of media and arts, from music to writing, such as Blur and Damien Hirst.
