Kingston University is located on the outskirts of London, in the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames. Over 20,000 students from 150 countries are currently enrolled, with the University particularly strong in the area of entrepreneurship, having produced more graduate start-up companies than any other UK university for the past four years.

Following the 2015 National Student Survey, Kingston’s sports science and nutrition programmes scored top marks with third year undergraduates the most satisfied in England and Wales. The four main campuses have seen £123 million of investment over recent years, with work due to be completed in 2018. The Medical School is run in collaboration with St George’s, University of London, while the Engineering department has its own campus and is the third-largest engineering facility in London.

Services for International Students

The International Student Advisory Centre offers help and advice with any questions or problems, including immigration matters, working in the UK, life outside study, and cultural differences and living in the UK. The Department of Humanities runs a pre-sessional English course for students who want or need to improve their English level before the start of term. Kingston runs a free airport pickup service at the beginning of term and hosts an international orientation for students new to the country.

  • 88th in the Guardian University Guide 2017

The QS World University Rankings placed Kingston University in the 471-480 category in 2013, making it the highest new UK entry. This was due to a high score for employer reputation; and further good scores for proportions of international students and international staff. Kingston University's Fashion BA(Hons) degree course was also voted as fourth best in the world by leading fashion blog Fashionista.

Following the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 60% of Kingston University's overall submission was rated as world-leading and internationally excellent - a 100% increase on the 2008 figure. The top performing unit was Art & Design: History, Practice and Theory.

Kingston University has seven halls of residence, all near the University campuses. University-owned halls of residence consist of single rooms with a kitchen shared between 2-9 students, 70% of which are en suite. There is a free bus service between the accommodation halls and campuses. Privately run halls of residence near the Penrhyn Road campus are also available.

International students can apply for lodgings in houses around the local area if they are studying for less than one year and the University provides lists of private accommodation for students who wish to live outside halls.

Kingston University is based in Kingston upon Thames, a busy riverside town on the borders of London and Surrey. It features a historic town centre packed with shops, bars and clubs and central London is only 25 minutes away via train, with easy access to Gatwick and Heathrow airports. Royal parks and the River Thames are also within walking distance.

The University has five campuses, each with specific subjects associated with it. The Kingston Hill, Penrhyn Road and Knights Park campuses are in Richmond, with St George’s medical campus in London and the Roehampton Vale engineering campus also further into the capital.
