Overview
The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) music college has been developing and delivering contemporary music education for over 30 years – longer than any other music school in the UK. Founded in 1986, ICMP was originally known as The Guitar Institute and Basstech, but soon expanded to offer courses in drums, vocals and other instruments; songwriting; music business and music production. We pride ourselves on our small class sizes, 1 to 1 tuition, high number of teaching contact hours, personalised approach to student engagement, regular one-to-one support, and dynamic use of technology in the classroom – innovations you just won’t find to the same extent at any other modern music college.
Services
ICMP has a dedicated Wellbeing team available on-site to offer assistance, information and guidance with many aspects of student life. Students are able to book one-to-one appointments with the team to discuss personal and welfare matters in a supportive environment. The team can also offer practical advice and guidance to international students as they settle into their new surroundings.

Accommodation
Although ICMP doesn’t provide accommodation, we organise a number of House Hunting events designed to not only help you find a property, but also to assist you with your search for housemates to live with. These events are open to all new students arriving in September, and also any current students who are returning for their second year of study. We also invite various local estate agents to present their latest student accommodation.
