JYA/Study Abroad

There are two main study abroad program types:

Enroll directly at a UK university
You can apply directly to a UK university that accepts study abroad students. Universities normally have special orientation and support services for such students. Direct enrollment will afford you great opportunities to meet many British students and fully immerse yourself in another culture. Our Study Abroad Database lists places where you can apply.

University exchange
Your university may have arrangements with UK universities whereby a certain number of students go to the UK for a term and, in exchange, the same number come from the UK to Japan for a term. These programs are usually competitive and are not found at every UK university.

Choose a School

If you want to do a UK study abroad, you must contact your university's study abroad office. Advisors there can tell you your schools policies on overseas credit transfer and using financial aid to fund study abroad. However if you would like to apply direct to the university then contact us and we can help you get into any university in the UK.

We can give you advice on the types of study abroad programs available and how to choose one.

Some schools specialise in certain subjects so it is important that you find the right university for you. We can also help you find a school which has the right balance of english plus academic modules.

What English level do I need to be at

You will generally need to have reached an IELTS score of 6.5 if you would like to study with other undergraduate students. However if you would like to study english and also academic modules you will be able to enter with a lower IELTS score.

How about my GPA?

It depends on the university. Some universities will require a GPA of around 3.0, while others will not specify a GPA.

How do I apply?

Contact our office in the UK or alternatively contact us online and we will assist you with the application form. *The JYA program usually requires counselling and advice so please contact us
