University Of Wolverhampton at Chennai
The University of Wolverhampton was awarded university status in 1992, and has its roots in the 1835 Wolverhampton Mechanics’ Institute and several other local institutions. It currently has around 23,000 students enrolled of which 2,500 are international. It is spread across four campuses in the West Midlands, with the main City Campus about 220km north west of London.
It has a historic reputation for applied research and innovation, starting with its use of what is now oldest original functioning electronic stored program computer in the world in 1957. It also offered one of the first degrees in British sign language as well virtual reality design and manufacturing. Currently, Wolverhampton encourages student startup companies and runs projects creating work placements for entrepreneurial students.
